My name is Stuart McClorey and I am a primary school teacher (Wooo!). I started teaching in 2012 and there hasn't been a day I haven't loved what I'm doing. I used to teach at St. Mary's in Kalgoorlie, but I am about to enter my fifth year now, at the equally awesome St. Jerome's in Munster W.A.
Notable highlights in my pre-teacher past include working in business development for Coca Cola Amatil, living and working in remote Indigenous communities throughout the NT, and what seems like a lifetime as a long suffering manager at Kmart (side note: teaching adults to use self serve checkouts is infinitely more frustrating than teaching 10 year old's fractions).
Additionally I once bowled a 248 and in 2012 coached the St Mary's Year Three girls basketball team to an undefeated season. It was pretty amazing :) Oh yes, I am also married to a beautiful, kind and good humoured woman named Lisa. We have an amazing daughter, Olivia, who never ceases to light up our days, as well as a beautiful little boy Alex, who so far never ceases to light up our nights :)
I'm deeply passionate about the education of young people. My goal for every class I have ever worked with is simple; build a culture of kindness, gratitude, respect and excellence, with children striving to do their best and improve themselves not only as students, but as people. In 2014 I was nominated for a teaching award by the parents of St. Mary's. I was honoured and humbled to be recognised by their generous school community, and I will always be grateful for the beautiful words they spoke of me. You can read them here if you like.
I believe everything schools do should revolve around students. It's as simple as that.
If you would like to know more about my approach to teaching, you can read my teaching philosophy here - I think it will give you a pretty good idea what is important to me, and the expectations of the students I teach :)
Have a great day and thanks for visiting! :)
