This year is the first we have tried implementing a classroom economy in 6G. The purpose of the economy is to teach students some of the basics of economics and money management, while using it as a reward for positive behaviours and work ethic. You can read more about the purpose of the class economy here.
There are many employment opportunities as part of the classroom economy, and students were invited to send in their applications in week one, with some positions even requiring a reference.
The majority of students applied for the position of ‘banker’ and ‘police officer’ for which there were only a limited number of positions available. Unfortunately this means many people missed out and some students may have even ended up with a job they didn’t apply for, but I’m sure everyone understands that it is impossible to please everyone!
If students are willing, we could always look at some job swaps next term :)
That said, here are the positions for 2016.
Gatekeeper & Environmental Officers
In the coming days I will sit down with all students and explain to them in detail the roles and responsibilities of their positions. Some of the positions are very in-depth but after a few weeks I'm sure we will have a good system in place! :)
